Chilli Paneer Gravy Recipe / How to Make Chilli Paneer.
Chilli Paneer is a popular Indo-Chinese dish made by seasoning fried Indian Cottage Cheese in chilli sauce. It is very easy and simple to prepare.

You can make Chilli Paneer in three versions, like dry, semi-dry and gravy. Here I am making the Restaurant Style Chilli Paneer Gravy. It is can be served as side dish to rotis and chapatis.

Chilli Paneer Dry is the most preferred one as an appetizer or snacks but the curry version is mostly preferred in main course meal.



Today I am going to share the curry version of Chilli Paneer. The ingredients that we use are same for both the variants. The only difference is that the quantity of sauce is more in gravy version than dry version.

Here goes the recipe of Chilli Paneer Gravy.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 5

Ingredients for Chilli Paneer Gravy:

Paneer – ¼ kg
All Purpose Flour – ¼ cup
Corn Flour – 3 tbsp.
Alt – ½ tsp.
Water – as required
Oil – for frying
For Chilli Paneer:
Onion – 1 medium, cubed
Green Capsicum – 1 medium, cubed
Ginger finely chopped – 1 tbsp.
Garlic – finely chopped – 1 tbsp.
Green Chilli slit – 2
Kashmiri Chilli Powder – 1 tsp.
Soya Sauce – 2 tsp.
Tomato Sauce – 2 tbsp.
Corn Flour – 2 tbsp.
Vinegar – 2 tsp.
Oil – 2 tbsp.
Water – 2 tbsp.
Salt – to taste.

How to Make Chilli Paneer:

Cut the Paneer / Cottage Cheese into small cubes of 1 inch size. In a large bowl, add Maida, Corn Flour and Salt. Mix it well. Add little water as required and mix it to make a smooth batter.

Next heat Oil in a pan over medium heat. Take Paneer cubes and coat with batter and dip them in oil. Fry the Paneer cubes till they are light golden in colour. Take the paneer cubes out and place them over kitchen towel so that it absorbs excess oil. Keep it aside.

Make Chilli Paneer Gravy:

Take Corn Flour in a small bowl. Add water to it. Mix it to make a thin paste so that there are no lumps. Keep it aside.

Now heat Oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped Garlic, chopped Ginger and slit Green Chilli. Sauté all the ingredients till the raw smell of ginger and garlic goes off. Add cubed Onion and Capsicum. Sauté them for 1-2 minutes on high flame.

Bring down the flame to low and add Soya Sauce, Tomato Sauce, Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, Vinegar and Salt. Sauté all the ingredients and cook for 1-2 minutes. Now add the Corn Flour water into the pan and stir continuously so that no lumps are formed. Add more water as per your requirement of gravy. Boil the gravy for 2-3 minutes till the sauce thickens.

Now add in the fried Paneer into the thick gravy and cook for a minute. Mix well till the paneer gets coated well with gravy. Switch off the flame. Chilli Paneer Gravy is ready to be served.
