Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe / How to Make Slow Cooker Spaghetti Bolognese / Easy Spaghetti Bolognese / One Pot Spaghetti Bolognese / Bolognese Sauce Recipe

Spaghetti Bolognese is an ideal one pot dish, which is best for the dinner. This dish is simply awesome and flavorful. Of course it will be a best dish for the week end and for the parties.

Personally speaking, we both love this one pot dish, Spaghetti Bolognese, especially Reji. I remember having this dish for the first time from the school (Jewels International School of Kinshasa) canteen. Then we both had it from many restaurants in Kinshasa and from few European restaurants. I slowly started loving it and decided to make it myself one day. Thanks a bunch to one of my colleagues who gave me this recipe. On my first attempt itself it came out really well. Everyone loved it.

Bolognese Sauce is a meat-based sauce originating from Bologna, Italy, hence the name. The main ingredients are minced or finely chopped Beef (or Pork or Turkey), Onion, Carrot, Tomato or Tomato paste and Wine. Eventually it will be a thick sauce. Many traditional variations exist for this sauce. Outside Italy, ‘Bolognese sauce’ often refers to a tomato-based sauce to which minced beef (or pork) has been added. (Source: Wikipedia)

Here goes its recipe..

Preparation Time: 10 minutes.
Cooking Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 6
Calories: 310 / 100 grams

Ingredients for Spaghetti Bolognese:

Minced Beef – 1 pound (454 grams)
Onion – ½ cup (finely diced)
Garlic – 2 cloves (crushed)
Carrot – 1 medium (finely diced)
Tomato puree – of 10 – 12
Beef Stock Cube – 1
Cream or Milk – ½ cup
Black Pepper Powder – 1 tsp. (freshly ground)
Red Chilly Flakes – ½ tsp.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil – 1 tbsp.
Red or White Wine – ½ cup (I have used my own Homemade Grape Wine)
Salt – to taste
Oregano – 1 tsp. (dried)
Spaghetti – 1 pound (452 grams)
Butter – 2 tbsp. (unsalted)

How to Make Spaghetti Bolognese:

Heat Olive Oil in a pan on medium heat. Add crushed Garlic and mix. Add Onion and Carrot and sauté it for few minutes or until it softens. Add the Minced Beef and cook stirring it until browned separating the meat into small pieces. Add Salt and mix it.

Pour the Wine into Beef mixture and stir it. Cook for about two minutes until the wine is almost evaporated. Next add the Tomato Puree and Cream / Milk. Mix it. Add the Black Pepper Powder, Red Chilli Flakes and Oregano. Sauté it. Pour in the Beef Stock. Bring it to boil and simmer for 30 minutes or until the sauce has reduced and thickened.

Cook the Spaghetti when the sauce is within fifteen minutes of being done. Boil Water in a large pot over high heat. Add Salt and 1 tbsp. Olive oil to it. Then add the Spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook for about 8 minutes or until al dente. Drain.

Stir the Butter in to the Bolognese Sauce. Season with Salt and Pepper. Serve over hot Spaghetti. Give a gentle mix if you want. Your Spaghetti Bolognese is now ready for serving.

My Recipe Notes on Spaghetti Bolognese:

1. Instead of Spaghetti, you can use even pasta.
2. Instead of Beef, you can use Pancetta / Pork / Turkey. Or you can mix one of these with Beef.
3. Adding Cream / Milk is completely optional. But I say, it gives an awesome flavour that I like so much.
4. You can serve Spaghetti Bolognese with ½ cup Parmesan Cheese on top.
5. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
6. You can use this recipe as a base for lasagne.

Serve Spaghetti Bolognese with your family and friends..

Enjoyyy..

Bon Appetite..

Happy Cooking,

Cheers,

Seena.
