Easter Eggs Recipe / How to Make Homemade Easter Eggs / Homemade Easter Eggs.
Easter Eggs, the word we hear a lot during the season of holy week and Easter. Have you ever thought of giving it a try? This year I made Easter Eggs with boiled eggs, cooled, coloured, dried them and removed shells.
Colourful Easter Eggs are the symbol of Easter. The practice of decorating eggshell is ancient, predating Christian traditions. Cake for Christmas and Easter Eggs for Easter..
Easter eggs, also called Paschal eggs, are decorated eggs that are often given to celebrate Easter.
Easter eggs symbolize the empty tomb of Jesus: though an egg appears to be like the stone of a tomb, a bird hatches from it with life; similarly, the Easter egg, for Christians, is a reminder that Jesus rose from the grave, and that those who believe will also experience eternal life.
These eggs can be hidden somewhere for children to find on Easter morning, which may be left by the Easter Bunny. They may also be put in a basket filled with real or artificial straw to resemble a bird’s nest.
An egg hunt is a game during which decorated eggs, real hard-boiled ones or artificial ones filled with, or made of chocolate candies, of various sizes, are hidden for children to find, both indoors and outdoors. When the hunt is over, prizes may be given for the largest number of eggs collected, or for the largest or the smallest egg. (Wikipedia)
Here is a quick and easy version of making Easter Eggs.. I have used food colouring here other than dye tablets.
Ingredients for Easter Eggs:
Hard Boiled Eggs – 6
Food Colours – as many as you want (I have used Blue, Red, Yellow. Orange, Green and Maroon)
Pointed brush – 1
Cake, Muffin moulds or Plastic disposable cups – to keep the painted eggs to get it dried.
Gloves – 1 pair
Saucepan – to boil the eggs
Water – to boil the egg
How to Make Easter Eggs:
Take a saucepan and fill it with enough water and immerse all eggs. Bring water to boil and then reduce the heat. Let it cook for 5 more minutes. Drain out water and let it cool.
Take all your available colours in a plate. If it’s powdered colour add two or 3 drops of water to it and make it to a paste. Once the eggs and colours are ready, it’s time for starting the cracking of eggs. Make the cracks small or big the way you want.. Now take your brush and one egg and start colouring from one end to the other end by using different colours in layers. Repeat the process with the remaining eggs.. Place them gently on the cake tray moulds. Keep it aside for drying. Once they are completely dried, remove the shells.
Now your Easter Eggs are ready to display or whatever..
My Recipe Notes on Easter Eggs:
1. Wear gloves and cover your palms because making Easter eggs is an activity that can get messy..
2. I kept aside the coloured eggs for a day.
Cheers.. Seena.
