Banana Smoothie

It’s an awesome feeling when one is a Winner or a Runner Up in a contest. You must be wondering now why I have written this now. I have been selected for the Runner Up in the 1st Food Photography Contest of affimity.com Many among you have helped me to reach that point. Thanks a bunch to all those sweet hearts..  I could have written this before, but somehow I missed it..

Coming back to the recipe..




A smoothie is a thick beverage made by blending fruits or vegetables with some other ingredients like milk, ice cubes, water, sugar etc.. Here I made Banana Smoothie. Pats gives smoothies a thicker consistency and it’s so healthy as it contains fibre. This is the second smoothie of my blog and the first one was Banana Nutella Milk Shake.

When it comes to Banana’s health benefits, it is rich in protein, Vitamin C, B6, fibre, Magnesium, Folate, Manganese and Potassium. So Bananas provide variety of minerals and vitamins. So it is highly necessary to include bananas in your daily diet.

Making banana smoothies are a great way to use up ripe bananas. Both of us bought bananas on our way back from office without realizing that my maid had already bought it and thus I got a couple of bunch of bananas at home. Making a smoothie with bananas is an ideal option rather than making juice out of it. Bananas are not an optimal fruit for making juice.

Any fruit smoothies are a better way of making your children to have both fruits and milk. Banana Smoothies are very good for your babies as it incorporates additional nutrients in their diet, which is also easily digestible. Make it a practice of adding one or the other smoothie in your child’s diet. So that they hardly ever get ill.

Serves: 4

Ingredients for Banana Smoothie:

3 medium sized ripe Bananas
1 cup Skim Milk
1/8 tsp. ground Nutmeg Powder
1 cup Ice Cubes
¼ cup Oats
3 tbsp. Sugar
1 tbsp. Honey
¾ tsp. Vanilla Essence.

How to Make Banana Smoothie:

Chop up bananas. Take a blender and place all the ingredients. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds or until everything is smooth.
Pour this Banana Smoothie in to long glasses and have it immediately or chilled.

My Recipe Notes on Banana Smoothie:

1. Better to use frozen bananas, a way to reduce the starch content in bananas.
2. Using ice cubes cool down smoothies which makes it so refreshing. If your fruits are frozen, then no need to add ice cubes.
3. You can add Greek Yogurt which gives creaminess to your smoothie.
4. Chop your bananas to small pieces, otherwise solid chunks will remain in the bottom of your blender.
5. If your smoothies turn out thick, add liitle more milk to lighten it, and if it’s thin, add more fruits.
